Majuro, Republic of the Marshall Islands β€” Marshalls Energy Company (MEC) is pleased to announce the award of a contract for the design, supply, installation and commissioning of renewable energy mini-grids in Arno, Jaluit, Wotje and Rongrong, under the Renewable Energy Generation and Access Increase Project (REGAIN), financed by the World Bank.

Following a competitive procurement process, the contract has been awarded to Sunergise EPC Limited. The works will deliver seven mini-grids, comprising four new solar mini-grids in the communities of Arno, Jabo, Ine and Matolen on Arno Atoll, and the hybridization with solar PV and battery storage of three existing diesel-based systems, together with rehabilitation of the distribution network, at Jabor (Jaluit Atoll), Wotje (Wotje Atoll) and Rongrong (Majuro Atoll).

Once complete, the project will expand access to cleaner, more reliable electricity for these communities, reduce reliance on diesel generation, and advance the Marshall Islands’ renewable energy and climate resilience goals.
