Majuro, Republic of the Marshall Islands – Marshalls Energy Company (MEC) has announced a decrease in electricity tariff rates for customers in Majuro, Ebeye, Jaluit, Wotje, and Kili Island, effective September 3, 2026.

The adjustment comes as global fuel prices, while remaining high due to the ongoing conflict in Iran, have eased in recent weeks. Under MEC’s monthly fuel cost adjustment methodology, the decrease in fuel costs will be reflected in lower electricity rates for September.

The adjustment represents a decrease of $0.045 per kWh across all three customer categories.

MEC recognizes the impact electricity costs have on households, businesses, and government services and remains committed to ensuring that changes in fuel costs are appropriately reflected through its tariff adjustment process.

While the September adjustment provides some relief to customers, global fuel markets remain volatile. MEC will continue to monitor fuel costs closely, and electricity rates may be adjusted in future months in accordance with the monthly fuel cost adjustment methodology.

MEC thanks its customers for their continued patience and understanding. For questions regarding the new tariff rates, customers may contact MEC Customer Service at (692) 625-3827/3828.
