HELP ENGINEER THE FUTURE OF ENERGY IN THE MARSHALL ISLANDS
Marshalls Energy Company (MEC) is transforming the way electricity is generated, managed, and delivered across Marshall Islands.
We’re transitioning our existing 100% thermal power systems toward 100% renewable energy operations by 2050.
Today, MEC operates six power systems, with five additional hybrid power networks planned for development across other atoll locations in 2027 to 2028.
To help us deliver this transformation, weβre looking for an experienced Power Systems Senior Engineer who brings strong technical expertise, sound engineering judgment, and a passion for developing people.
WHY JOIN MEC?
At MEC, you’ll be working on real-world power system challenges that directly affect island communities. You’ll have the opportunity to:
- Help shape MEC’s transition toward 100% renewable energy by 2050.
- Work on hybrid power systems, renewable generation, battery energy storage, and modern control systems.
- Support the development of five new hybrid power networks across additional atoll locations.
- Work with MEC’s six existing power systems.
- Contribute to SCADA and EMS modernization.
- Work alongside experienced engineers, operations teams, consultants, contractors, and technology providers.
- Develop and mentor junior engineers.
- Take part in technically challenging projects with long-term national impact.
YOUR ROLE
As Power Systems Senior Engineer, you will provide senior technical expertise and engineering leadership across MEC’s power systems.
You will work closely with the System Planning & Engineering Director and have delegated authority to review and approve routine engineering designs and technical documents within your approved scope.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Lead and support power system planning, analysis, design, and technical reviews.
- Review and approve routine engineering designs, calculations, drawings, and specifications.
- Conduct and review load flow, short-circuit, protection coordination, voltage, frequency, and system performance studies.
- Support renewable energy and battery energy storage integration.
- Provide technical leadership for hybrid power system development.
- Provide strong technical expertise in SCADA and Energy Management Systems (EMS).
- Review SCADA/EMS architecture, monitoring, control, communications, alarms, and integration.
- Support integration of generation, renewable energy, battery storage, substations, and distribution systems into SCADA/EMS.
- Provide technical support to Operations and Maintenance.
- Investigate power system events and technical problems.
- Develop and improve MEC engineering standards and technical procedures.
- Support project design, procurement, construction, testing, and commissioning.
- Review consultant and contractor engineering deliverables.
- Coach, mentor, and develop junior engineers.
- Promote technical knowledge sharing and strengthen MEC’s engineering capability.
