SUMMARY:

Manage the Information Technology functions for MEC including the Wide Area Network, technical and business applications, PC operating systems and applications, GIS, website development, and all aspects of cyber security.

 

  I. KEY DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES
     
  1.       Manage all IT functions for MEC.

2.       Provide support to all MEC departments to enable them to utilize IT applications to accomplish their mission in an effective and efficient manner.

3.       Provide Wide Area Network Service to MEC including internet, email, etc.

4.       Support PC operating systems and applications for all areas of MEC

5.       Support the technical aspects of the GIS system.

6.       Ensure cyber security measures are in place to protect MEC from malicious attacks and phishing.

7.       Provide system administration function and ensure that all MEC IT systems have effective security, including measures such as password control, antivirus protection, firewalls, etc.

8.       Develop a website for MEC to communicate with customers and the public in an effective manner.

9.       Provide support for business applications.

10.   Provide training throughout MEC on IT applications.

11.   Direct the work of the IT specialist and ensure that the person is properly trained.

  1. Provide regular reports to the Director on the performance of IT systems throughout the company.

13.   Assure that relevant MEC employees receive continuing education to enable them to adapt to new technologies.

14.   Represent MEC at IT related meetings and gatherings.

15.  Perform other related duties as assigned.

 

 
  II. KEY RELATIONSHIPS
     

  1. Reports to the Director of System Planning and Engineering
  2. Acts as technical advisor to all MEC departments on IT issues, including Petroleum Division.

 

  III. QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
    EDUCATION: Four-year degree from a recognized college or university preferred.  Professional Certifications in applicable IT systems and applications can also qualify.

 

EXPERIENCE: Two years’ experience with technical and business IT systems is required.

 

SKILLS:

1.       Broad knowledge of the Information Technology field, given the wide range of responsibilities of this position.

2.       Ability to establish and maintain a Wide Area Network

3.       In depth knowledge of PC operating systems and applications

4.       Ability to establish and maintain IT controls and security.

5.       Ability to solve practical problems and deal with unexpected opportunities and challenges.

6.       Demonstrated ability to provide quality technical service to internal departments.

7.       Flexible team player with a proven ability to work successfully in a matrix reporting environment.

8.       Excellent oral and written communication skills in English and the ability to prepare and present concise reports and make presentations.

9.       Demonstrated ability to lead or manage projects.

  1. Demonstrated ability to identify and resolve problems, including the ability to identify opportunities to improve systems and processes.

11.   Ability to interact with and provide support to diverse groups of people at all levels in the organization.

12.  Effectively manage own time and the time of subordinates.

13.  Expertise with MS Office package (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project).
